Humqadam is a result of a collective effort for designing an application that can help Women Human Rights Defenders (and the general public) of Pakistan to respond to cases of gender-based violence. The app provides quick access to referral services, relevant laws, and a navigation guide for dealing with specific issues of violence. TPI is an applied research and design unit based at the Department of Computer Science, in LUMS. Through TPI, LUMS envisions focusing on practical problems of Pakistan to improve the quality of life of our citizens. The collaboration between Shirkat Gah and the Technology for People Initiative was the result of a focus on human-centered design for the application. TPI relied on Shirkat Gah and DCHDs deep knowledge about Women Human Rights Defenders’ work to design the application.
